Kashmiri Saffron is renowned globally as a spice that is used for cosmetics as well as medicinal purposes. It is cultivated and harvested in the karewas (High Land) of the Kashmir Valleys by the local farmers.
It has been associated with traditional Kashmiri cuisine and represents the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir. It is the only saffron in the world grown at an altitude of 1600 m to 1800m AMSL (above mean sea level) which represents its uniqueness and differentiates it from other saffron varieties grown in different parts of the world.
